If you have seen "The Passion of the Christ" directed by Mel Gibson,
Is it like no other movie you have ever seen?
What are your emotions?
Love? . . . . Anger? . . . . Wonder? . . Sorrow? . . . Fear?
Did you make any decisions while watching the movie or immediately thereafter? This may surprise you but,
Emotions will not sustain Faith.
Emotions will not save you.
Emotions will run out.

Sympathy for a beaten Christ does not make you a Christian. Sorrow for a crucified Jesus does not save you. Here is the important question for you, What do you know about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ? Do you believe in heaven or hell? If you died right now, where would you go? Would you like to know how do I get saved? These questions and more will be dealt with in this brochure. The word of God is found in the Bible. I have made this to bring together some key passages that are very relative to the question, How do I get saved? Please open to the next flap to see where you go from here.

What I have found is the emotional impact of a movie or great evangelist or a near death experience may cause one to profess faith in God but it is usually without knowledge and is short lived. I have seen many people who claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ but have no knowledge, therefore no real basis for belief. The Bible is not as difficult as you might think. Some parts are so profound it teaches the great philosophers both past and present. Yet it is simple enough for a 12 year old to read and understand enough to believe and follow Jesus. Jesus had a teaching and healing ministry for over three years. The four Gospels tell all about what he taught and did and said.
In John 2:19-21 He said 'Destroy this body and I will raise it up again in three days'
The Apostle Paul said 'If Christ is not risen from the dead then our faith is in vain.'
You see, Jesus was sent to save us from our sins, and He had to shed His blood to do that.
The Bible says. . . without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9:22. You saw the brutality of his death but you should know that He had to be ressurected in order to be a Savior. The love he demonstrated and the love He has for you today is without equal. No one can love you as Jesus Christ does.

I understand that your emotions may be running high right now so let me start back in time to show the whole story, Its His story.

When God created the universe many years ago He set Adam in a perfect garden. Adam made a decision to disobey God and attempt to make himself like God. By his fall mankind was brought into condemnation
"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 and being guilty he was sentenced to death
For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23

That meant death for all his offspring. God allowed for a temporary atonement of sin but Christ was the final sacrifice on the cross to bring man back into a relationship with God. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

That is why Jesus came as a man and died on a cross. He was not defeated. His plan did not fail. His life went just as He planned. He said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me. John 14:6"
He not only healed the sick and raised the dead but He also taught the people. He taught them about life and love and faith and the mysteries of God. He humbled the most proud and lifted up the lowliest of persons. He said "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" Mark 2:17

It was absolutely necessary for Jesus to die on the cross. We can only imagine what agony He went through those last days. Seeing a movie like "The Passion of the Christ" makes you realize what He did for you and for me. He endured that pain and humiliation for our sins. What a God of love!
There is no way we can do any work to equal that one act of Jesus. Anything we do is as filthy rags by comparison, says the Bible. We also can not crucify ourselves for our sins. Nor should we crucify Christ again for our sins. The Bible says

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8-9

How do you receive this gift?

All you have to do is ask. It's as simply as that.
Too easy, you say. "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Luke 1:37 You bow your head to God and say something like this: Lord, I need you. Thank you for giving your life for my sins. I open the door of my heart and receive you as Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. take control of my life. make me the kind of person you want me to be.

We are the kid of a king!

If you prayed this from the heart You are saved

How do you build your Faith? Jesus talks a lot about faith. The lack of it, The need for it, The results of having and not having it. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 You must read your Bible to gain knowledge of the word of God and you must pray to tell God whats in your heart and mind. It's a dialog. There are a lot of excellent books available to help solidify your beliefs, Like "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell. C.S.Lewis also wrote some very good books.

Can you lose your faith?

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
As you can see, you cannot lose your faith if it was sincerely asked from your heart. God may chastise you if you stray from Him, but you will not be lost. You didn't do anything to deserve it to start with so how can you work to regain salvation. Remember the quote from Ephesians 2:8-9.
If you have salvation and you can not lose it does that give you a license to sin. God Forbid! You are free from sin. "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32.

Being an orphan destined for hell and then receiving adoption into Gods family means you honor that gift by decent actions. Can you think of anything more important than receiving Christ as Lord and Savior? Do you think you might want to tell your family about it? Maybe your best friend? Maybe you would get radical and tell everyone going to hell they don't have to!

My Prayer

I pray that all men come to know God and Jesus Christ as I have, that you who are reading this will accept the fact that God created the heavens and the earth for man to enjoy and subdue and that in so doing you will come to appreciate the Creator and wish for a closer relationship with Him. That by knowing Him and knowing His love for you, you will love your fellow man more and display that love and compassion of Christ to all you may meet. You can make a difference in how our world is by changing how one man feels and acts. It starts with you and ends with the last man on earth. Accepting Jesus Christ as Savior is the start of great wisdom. God will act in your life to bring about changes. You may not be able to do it yourself. The Bible says that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD on the final day. I will gladly do it. Will you? I pray you will be there with me! May God Bless your walk with Him until the end. Amen.
