The Set Up By Bill Bailey Chapter 3c  Early Years, History, More Lies & Hoaxes:       In the early years man tested the theories of evolution upon society for acceptance. Charles Lyell (1797 - 1875), is what I consider the first toe in the door of an otherwise creationist worldview. He introduced the world to uniformitarianism, that geologic processes are uniform throughout time. Of course Charles Darwin is considered the father of the evolutionary movement. He started out as a seminary graduate, then when on a trip abroad chose to explain abnormalities in finches by humanist ideas instead of Biblical concepts. The death knell for Darwin came when his daughter Annie died and he could not understand why God allowed that to happen. He, like many of his followers, turned atheistic.

      Some of the evolutionists are Deists. They believe God created then abandoned the universe. Believe it or not there are some Christians who believe in Evolution. They will be explored in the next chapter dealing with theistic evolution. Scientific humanism or materialism is the title given to the beliefs of many evolutionists. They have for some reason rejected God as creator or organizer of all life and substance. Many admit the decisions they reach are absurd and without logical reason but they cannot allow God to edge into they're thinking. They break all the laws of sound scientific reasoning and when confronted with solid facts, will dodge, lie, turn the conversation in another direction, stall. Along with this is a willing press who has proven to be accomplices in the liberal thought process that puts man's thinking above God. Most of the time God is never mentioned in any evolutionary processes. It is all about man and what he has accomplished.

      When speaking of the theory of evolution, it is important to realize that uniformitarianism and gradualism combined with atheism is not something new to the 18th century, although it really became popular and grew exponentially in the colleges, universities and in the media. The apostle Paul argued with Epicureans and Stoics in Greece in the first century A.D., both being basically atheistic. These same philosophies have taken hold of the scientists of today, at least the ones who don't want to believe in God. There are, however, many good qualified scientists who believe in the Bible and they see no contradiction between the two. Here is a quote from Paul James-Griffith, a missionary to the New Age movement in England: As a former spiritualist, my suspicions were aroused. I began a long and intensive investigation of scientific evolution in physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and archeology, only to find it was not scientific but mere pagan philosophy decked out in fancy language!

      In 1829, upon his death, Englishman James Smithson's bequest founds the Smithsonian Institution. Although not an American, he wished for an institution to be created for the increase and diffusion of knowledge. It has been a supporter of evolution since the beginning.

      Evolutionists teach that it took millions of years to lay down the fossil layers, about one layer per year. I'm sure they were surprised in the 1980's when Mount St. Helens erupted and laid down thousands of layers in 3 hours. The nearby Blue Lake is a perfect example of how trees can be found through several of those layers of strata, because it happened so suddenly trees were left upright and the sediment surrounded it, layer by layer.

      One of the theories that puzzle me is the geologic column. It is stated that with the geologic column (which will only be found in the textbooks) the fossils can date the rocks but occasionally the rocks are able to date the fossils. Did someone even whisper circular reasoning during their explanation? I would think that would be obvious even to a child. What really bothers me is evolution is taught in schools now as FACT! Christianity has been removed from public schools and replaced with evolution. What comes out of evolutionist reasoning is racism, relative truth, loss of meaning, and lack of hope.

      You will notice the sub title of Darwins book is," the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life". Who are the favored races? Hitler thought Darwin just wonderful. Hitler thought the Nordic people, or Scandinavians were closest to perfect, German next, then Hispanics, Negroes, then Jews at the bottom of the evolutionary chain, Jews being closest to apes. This thought process has given support to Marxism, Communism, Fascism and Racial Segregation due to placing different people groups in different stages of evolution. Hitler killed 6,000,000 Jews because he accepted and promoted the idea that they were inferior human beings. Many scientists (and opportunists) captured and killed thousands of Australian aborigines in the late 1800's to early 1900's for their skulls, thinking they were merely animals. They were then shipped back to England, Germany and America for study. They were listed in Australian museums as just that. Ota Benga, a pigmy, from Africa was brought to America by being told he would benefit science, then caged in a zoo for display with an orangutan. He committed suicide.

      Where did Hitler get his Aryan race ideas? You wouldn't think a person sworn to preach and follow the Bible and Jesus Christ would be the author of this type of thought but it was a Catholic monk, Adolf Lanz, who preached that there were two earthly races, the Aryan Heroes (Asings) and the Animal People (Apes). His list started with Nordic, then Germanic, Mediterranean, Slalvic, Orential Black African then Jew (close to pure Ape). He twisted the temptation of Eve in Genesis to become a seduction by a monster.

      Stephen J. Gould wrote that racism increased by 'orders of magnitude' due to Darwin's research being used as justification.

      Another hoax that was presented as a true fact in more recent history and which is still used in textbooks as late as the year 2000 is recapitulation. Ernst Haeckel presented a set of illustrations depicting the embryo of different species yet all looking very much alike. Haeckel was an ardent evolutionist who would stop at nothing to prove evolution true. His dedication to evolution led him to manufacture evidence beyond the imagination. He depicted that embryos start life with gill slits, then evolve into higher life forms ending at human life ready for the birth process. First off, it was an out and out lie. He gave lectures extensively throughout Europe complete with other inventions of bacterium that didn't exist. It bolstered the theory of evolution for over 50 years. It was proven to be false soon after its inception by Wilhelm His, Sr (1831-1904), a famous comparative embryologist of the day and professor of anatomy at the University of Leipzig, uncovered the fraud in 1874. Eventually (in 1909)Haeckel admitted to "falsifying evidence" but Darwin and Huxley still loved his "proof". Considering Haeckel and his recapitulation theory and Nietzsche's 'super-man' theories, social Darwinism, racism, and militarism, Germany was ripe for the Nazi power grab and elimination of 6 million Jews. It is noteworthy that the latest (15th) edition of Encyclopedia Britannica, committed as it is to evolution, makes no mention of Haeckel's many fabrications. The 1992 printing says merely, 'Haeckel tended to speculate', 'his concepts of recapitulation were in error', and he 'was often involved in controversy', Encyclopedia Britannica, 5:610, 1992. It is simply amazing that the late Dr. Carl Sagan espoused these same theories as if they were true.

     One of the side effects of this terrible lie is the woman who is considering an abortion being told it is not a baby but just a mass of flesh or a tadpole or maybe its at the chicken stage. Women have been told its like cutting up a fish. Some people will say anything to justify murder in the process of making money.

 Concerning this, Dr Henry Morris writes:
"We can justifiably charge this evolutionary nonsense of recapitulation with responsibility for the slaughter of millions of helpless, pre-natal children - or at least for giving it a pseudo-scientific rationale."

      Thousands lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Thousands loose their lives every day in equal number but with much less sympathy or fanfare.

      Did you hear the one about the peppered moths. This is what is used by evolutionists as "proof" of evolution. The story goes that peppered moths were able to adapt by mutations and variations in color, thus making them camouflaged from the sight of predators. When affected by the coal smoke of England they were susceptible to being eaten. The population of certain moths rose or fell depending on color, thus proving evolution of the hardy species and survival of the fittest. When the environment changed the population changed with it. That is called micro-evolution, changes within a kind, adaptations, not macro-evolution. Since moths do not usually perch on tree trunks where they were photographed, the experiment was found to be unscientific and suspect. They were moths, still are moths, will always be moths, so they did not become birds, that's just moths. That is similar to the finches Darwin found on the Galapagos Islands. They were still finches and still are finches today. No proof for evolution there.

      From 1924 to 1988, there was a visitor's sign above the entrance to Carlsbad Caverns that said Carlsbad was at least 260 million years old. In 1988, the sign was changed to read 7 to 10 million years old. Then, for a little while, the sign read that it was 2 million years old. Now the sign is gone.

      The next time you are in a natural history museum, please take time to notice the absurd lies being told to the unsuspecting public. Children are being indoctrinated in school that evolution is FACT! Notice how they will start out talking about a certain animal type and then show other similar animal types, saying SEE, they become another species. According to the Bible, every creature brings forth after his "kind". There are no small horses that came from big dogs. They are two different kinds and never will one become the other. For one kind to change into another kind you must add information to the DNA. Where is that information going to come from? It must come from a higher amount of information, like dogs today came from a higher order of dogs. Many dogs today have to be taken care of or they would die in the wild. You have to cut their hair and nails and take them to the vet every two months. They are degenerate mutant mutts, even though some people coo over them as the "latest new special breed of dog."

      Mutations do not increase the amount of information, as is required by evolution. "All point mutations that have been studied on the molecular level turn out to reduce the genetic information and not to increase it . . . . . Not even one mutation has been observed that adds a little information to the genome."

      Every college and university in the world is permeated with the evolutionary humanist philosophy. I met Dr. Terry Mortenson, who gave a talk at a local church. He is one of the good guys. His Ph.D. thesis analyzed the origins of old-earth geology in the early 19th century, particularly the writings of the 'Scriptural geologists', a group of scientists and non-scientists who wrote Biblical, geological and philosophical arguments against these budding old-earth theories. I asked him how he was able to get through the university to such a high level of education without being shutout or disqualified due to his young earth creationist ideas. He said his doctorate was based on history and fact and the professors who granted his doctorate said it was ok to write on the creationist theories but he had better not try to teach young earth creation as fact. If they knew he was planning on teaching creation as soundly stated in the Bible, he would never have been able to get his Ph.D. That is the control the evolutionists have over our grade school, high school, and college level students today, even in America! I think evolution should be studied, but only to know what we are up against when we show our evidence to destroy theirs.

      I cannot leave the subject of Evolution without talking about dating methods and their lack of credibility. One thing for sure is that when ancient bones or fossils are found, they do not come with a date stamp on them. The finder is left to assuming the age or testing to try to find the true age of the article. One such method is Carbon-14 dating. Carbon-14 is made when cosmic rays knock neutrons out of atomic nuclei in the upper atmosphere. These displaced neutrons, now moving fast, hit ordinary nitrogen (14N) at lower altitudes, converting it into Carbon-14. Unlike common carbon (12C), Carbon-14 is unstable and slowly decays, changing it back to nitrogen and releasing energy. This instability makes it radioactive Carbon-14 (because this isotope is 14 times heavier than a helium atom) is in every living thing, plants and animals alike. When that living thing dies, it no longer takes in Carbon-14 but the decay process continues. At some point it reaches what is called the half-life, assumed to be about 5730 years. That is when the radioactive Carbon-14 is half what it was at the death of the plant or animal. In another 5730 years (or at 11460 years) it is again half of what it was previously. It continues on like this until it is unmeasurable. You can see that after 20,000 to 30,000 years the Carbon-14 would be quite small. It is a very inaccurate method of dating fossils. The unknowns are: was the rate of decay always constant?, was the rate of infusion of Carbon-14 balanced at "death"? or was it oversaturated or undersaturated?, what was the amount of Carbon-14 in the atmosphere that the item lived in? there are several anomalies that make carbon-14 dating unreliable and unscientific.

      I am amazed at the number of people who think carbon 14 dating proves the earth is 4.5 billion years old. That is not the method of old age dating at all. Parts of seals have been dated to 14,000 years while another part of the same FRESHLY KILLED seal has dated at 7,000 years. Crustaceans have been dated to several thousand years when they were known to be DAYS old!

      In Australia charred wood was found in basalt rock from a volcano. The wood was dated at 45,000 years while the basalt was 45,000,000 years old. Something is wrong with the dating method.

      There are other dating methods like potassium-40 decays to argon-40; uranium-238 decays to lead-206 via other elements like radium; uranium-235 decays to lead-207; rubidium-87 decays to strontium-87; etc. These techniques are applied to igneous rocks, and are normally seen as giving the time since solidification. The isotope concentrations can be measured very accurately, but isotope concentrations are not dates. To derive ages from such measurements, assumptions have to be made that are outside the arena of fact, such as:

1.     The starting conditions are known (for example, that there was no daughter isotope present at the start, or that we know how much was there).
2.     Decay rates have always been constant.
3.     Systems were closed or isolated so that no parent or daughter isotopes were lost or added.The past is not open to the experimental process like other areas of science, therefore it is open to speculation and inference by unscrupulous evolutionists. Remember what was said to Job,

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Job 38:4

      Of the hundreds and hundreds of dating methods available, most are terribly inaccurate and some absolutely absurd concerning accuracy. As previously stated when evolutionists use the geologic column to date fossils they quite often end up asking what layer did it come from. When the age conflicts with previous excepted ages they throw it out, but if it is unknown, they proclaim it as a true date.
