I believe it would be appropriate to discuss some of the hoaxes and misinterpretation of data reported as authentication of evolution. Some of these "facts" have been presented to the world just in the nick of time so to speak, when the grant money is about to run out for the expedition which was searching for the missing link. Most of the people looking for missing links work on grants from someone who adheres to their theories, trusting they will honestly find and report all pertinent data unbiased. Unfortunately this just doesn't happen. They have an agenda and will do anything to bring forth evidence of evolution. As will be shown later, evidence has been manufactured as needed and other evidence suppressed to hide facts. The following is a series of discoveries or "finds" that brought the evolutionary "evidence" to the uninitiated public. In 1802 mastodon skeletons were unearthed in New York bringing to the public the first ancient bones of mammals. |
Neanderthal is truly an early man probably from the flood of Noah's day. He was found in the Neander valley in Germany, and it was discovered he had diseases, probably rickets. His skull shows signs of a long lifetime. He most likely lived for several hundred years.
Piltdown man was an out and out fraud. Scientists actually filed down the jawbone of an orangutan and put it together with the skull of a small child, thus presenting the world with the "missing link". This "find" was presented to Darwin and for the next 45 years it was accepted as a true missing link. Many doctoral dissertations (about 500) were written on that one find only, in 1953, to be exposed as a fraud and hoax.
The next time you eat a pork chop you may want to think back on how Nebraska man (and his wife) were discovered. In 1922, Dr. Henry Fairfield found a tooth from a pig and determined that it had characteristics of a chimpanzee and man. Ah! At last the transitional fossil was found. He was able to construct a complete man and his wife from this single tooth. The London Times ran an illustration of him. The correction story was very small indeed.
In 1891 a Dutch anatomist found parts of a skull and claimed Java man. He was really an Orangutan. The find was withdrawn in 1900 from further examination. However, human skull bones were found earlier on the island but they were considered to be from each of the homo erectus and homo sapien group. If this is true it means they were contemporaries.
Peking (China) man was found nearly 50 years ago but access to the area was cut off. What were found were skulls with the back section crushed in. Also found in the area were true human skulls and tools. Since monkey brains are a delicacy in several areas of the world, the logical explanation is not a missing link but a missing barbecue.
As late as the career of the Beatles people were finding and claiming missing links. Lucy (named for the LSD song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds) was thought to be a chimp that walked upright. She too was a mosaic of body parts.
Modern day scientists are even now jumping on a bandwagon over Kenya man, claiming once again, the missing link. Archaeopteryx was thought to be a transitional fossil between reptile and birds. National Geographic did a story on one such oddity complete with sketches. Now they have to retract their story because what they reported was found to be a hoax. Someone had pasted tail feathers on an ancient flying reptile.
To sum it up, here is what Dr. Austin Clark, a leading biologist of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington has to say about the subject: "No matter how far back we go in the fossil record of previous animal life on earth, we find no trace of any animal forms which are intermediate between the major groups of phyla. . . . There is no such thing as missing links. . there is only misinterpretations."
Lubenow 1992: "What appears is that Homo erectus and modern man are contemporaries." He determined that 106 of the 222 fossils have dates earlier than their assumed age of disappearance of 300,000 years ago. Of these 106, 62 are dated more recently than 12,000 years ago, effectively modern history. When evolutionists are confronted with this evidence, they reply that they must be Homo sapiens, since they have recent dates, despite what they look like.
This is not an exhaustive list at all, indeed it is but a small portion of the finds that have come to light that were touted as "conclusive evidence" for evolution, yet they ALL fall down under authentic scientific scrutiny. For a key to understanding the reasoning behind the enthusiasm for finding any evidence that will support their belief we must turn to modern self-professing evolutionists for their answer.
